Puerto Rico Collapses?

I'm not an anarchist, really. However, when ANY bloated, useless government starts to fail or "shut down," I do rejoice. Puerto Rico is in that situation now. Spending is out of control there, so the government (run by the "New Progressive Party") is shutting down. Hooray.

40,000 teachers were out of a job and 500,000 students stayed at home. Progressives actually believe all these students sat in their rooms staring at the walls because they weren't being told what to do -- and perhaps some were. Others were outdoors, playing and learning. I bet some even found jobs!

But jobs were scarce -- because the island's largest employer is the government. THAT is the big problem. Government should be damn near the smallest employer in a capitalist and free society.

And another reason that I'm laughing at the failure of big government there -- 100,000 of the government employees who are "victims" of the shutdown actually filed for unemployment! So the government can't pay it's bills, so it has to stop paying employees, so the employees turn to the government for help.

Again, I am indeed overjoyed when huge, bloated government fail. Those who are suffering -- I'm sorry. Perhaps you will learn not to depend on government.

2 This just shows the logical extension of big government.
