Government Corporations?
Does anyone know the purpose of government? Are you aware of WHY we even have governments? I always thought it was for something like this:
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed,Or maybe even this:
We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.But obviously I was confused:
The Biotechnology Center is a private, nonprofit corporation supported by the N.C. General Assembly. Its mission is to provide long-term economic and societal benefits to North Carolina by supporting biotechnology research, business and education statewide.In other words, the government of North Carolina, using it's monopoly on force to demand that citizens give it money or go to jail, is giving money to a "private" corporation who can spend that money as they please, to "provide societal benefits." Oh, we are nowhere near the great nation that was created in 1775. I think it's time to once again seriously consider that next step:
That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.
