Unions Shut Down Continental Tire

Unions win! All Union employees should celebrate and rejoice! They have won their nearly year-long battle with the evil corporation! If you are a union member, you can go home and have a party. Feel free to party as long as you like because the union has won and the evil company has lost -- so the company will shut down.

This is the logical end-result of the current state of union affairs in America today. Union's goal is to shut down business, and they have succeeded in Charlotte. In September, the Continental Tire plant in Charlotte will shut down because the union members refused to work. Again, the union has won, so you union members feel free not to work as long as you want now.

Of course, everyone else who is NOT a union member will pay for this action. We will pay in the form of unemployment payouts to the union members who will be sitting at home on their rears. We will pay in the form of potential higher prices for tires because they have suddenly become more scarce. We may pay in the form of more of the economy sent overseas because Continental Tire cannot manufacture their tires here in the US -- the manufacturing that was done in Charlotte will transfer to Mexico and Brazil.

Congratulations, Local 850, you won.

1 "The announcement comes after the contract with the union expired on Sunday and managers stopped bargaining"

Yep, looks like it's "ALL" the Unions fault. Mangement were "innocent" victims in all of this.

2 I never said anyone was innocent. I simply stated that the union met their goal.

I don't get the entire "management vs unions" idea, anyway. Management wins when the company makes a profit. Anything else is a loss. Therefore, if it's Management vs. Unions, then the only goal unions can have is to destroy the company.
