Comprehensive = Amnesty
The new "code words" are out. The redefinition of the English language to suit the politicians continues. The latest is that when you hear "comprehensive immigration," that means amnesty. If you do not support amnesty and total forgiveness of crimes, you are against "comprehensive" immigration reform.
Fox News is reporting President Bush says he wants a "comprehensive" bill:that will cause the people in the interior of this country to recognize and enforce the laws and a bill that will enable us to have a guest worker program that will recognize that there are people here working hard in jobs that Americans don't want.
So he wants a law that will enforce the law but ignore the law at the same time. He wants to completely ignore the current criminals who have invaded this country by rewarding them with a guest worker program: amnesty. And dammit, stop already with the complete and total LIE that Americans don't want those jobs! It's a damn LIE. In North Carolina, for example, landscaping and yard care is a seasonal job -- it's only really needed in the summertime. College students and high school students aren't in school during the summertime. Those jobs used to be filled by the students. THEY WERE DOING THOSE JOBS. It is very simply a lie to claim that Americans "don't want", or "won't do" those jobs. States, since the federal government will not do it's job, I hope there's someone out there who will. I hope there's one brave state that will stand up to this invasion and try and stop it. States HAVE that right, whether the federal government wants to admit it or not.

I'm starting to understand why it took me SIX MONTHS from being laid off in 10/04 to find a job, and nearly FIVE MONTHS after being laid off in 9/05 to find this one. I would LOVE to be able to work in land-scaping and gardening. I am pretty darn good with a lawn-mower and weed-eater, and considering that I can mow someone's yard who lives on up to a 1/2 acre lot in under 2 hours (front and back) and make about $40 to $50 for it, I could do 2 yards a week and make MORE than I do now working for BBV. The problem, much like NC, is that people here in Texas want to pay $5-$10 to have their yard mowed, and therefore SEEK OUT illegal aliens to do it because they know that the illegals won't complain about the low pay. And, for those who don't believe my figures.....
From summer 1992 to summer 1995 I worked for myself doing this (mowing, edging, and such). On average I made from $300 to $400 PER WEEK (cash). Now, being that I was NOT even 18 yet, I didn't have to pay taxes, so that was legal. But, considering that I made about $1400 (gross) per MONTH after graduating and going to work for Eckerd's as a photo lab manager, I would have preferred to stay in the lawn care business, but there were students going into HS that lived in my neighborhood, so people hired them once I was out, it's only fair, right? Problem, now they don't hire the kids, they hire illegals, who may or may not be "safe" to have in the neighborhood around kids, but we'll never know, until something happens, will we?

More and more evidence that this whole "American's can't/won't do" is just a total fabricated lie.
Did you see McCain got called on it at a Union meeting? He tried to offer the union workers $50 an hour to pick lettuce, claiming that no one would do it, and some union members yelled out that they'd take that job in a minute.

So the cops aren't recognizing or enforcing the laws?
We knew that.
Some departments have RULES and POLICIES that PROHIBIT their officers from enforcing THE LAW, stating that it is a FEDERAL LAW and NOT THEIR JURISDICTION.
Drug running is breaking a federal law also, but show me a cop that won't arrest a guy with a car full of heroin.

This is why I find Craig's List so great when I need work done on my property -- evidently, criminal aliens who seek day labor jobs aren't getting on-line, most likely don't know how, and when I run an ad, I get responses from lots and lots of fellow gringos who, as you point out, Ogre, are ready, able and willing to do such things as landscaping work, moving furniture, carpentry, painting, all the stuff criminal aliens do.
So, yeah, the excuse that they'll "do the jobs Americans won't do" is pure aardvark droppings, just another dodge by politicians to try and snivel down PC Lane instead of doing their jobs and enforcing the law.

I say we put up a poll asking Americans if they would DO these jobs?? My daughter, before she got sick, always did landscaping type work in the summers.
Her freinds did as well. The local satelites of UNH offered up students in the horticulture type classes to pick apples and other harvests in the fall too, for exchange of min. wage.

And I, too, used to do those jobs. Heck, I used to spread hot tar on the roof of houses in Florida. The only reason I'm not doing it now is because I worked hard and earned my way through college, so now I've got more skills. Sure, I'm not interested in doing those jobs TODAY, but that doesn't mean no one else will.

New warehouse opened in town. Fifty jobs, they all paid $7.00-$8.00 an hour. The local unemployment office had 430 Americans applied the first day they started hiring. Meanwhile the illegals are hanging drywall at $19.00/hour. Something isn't right here.

It's not a lie, although normal, hard working, care about america american's would do it. The democratic, lazy assed, welfare loving "american's" won't do those jobs. Those are the people that they are referencing that won't do those jobs and those are the people that they are asking the poll questions too.

I haven't even seen a poll that supports the claim that they won't do "those jobs" -- just rhetoric from those who "say" no one will do "those jobs."
