Economy BOOMING in NC

No complaints about the economy in North Carolina are allowed. ANY politician that claims there's ANY problems at all with the economy in North Carolina is absolutely and completely lying. People in North Carolina had an extra $10 MILLION to risk on lottery tickets in one day. If people had money problems, they wouldn't be throwing away money like this. Our economy is apparently running at TOP speed.

1 I swear we heard a radio commercial a couple of days ago--maybe the first day of the lottery--to encouraged VA residents to cross the border and try their luck. Not surprising, of course, except we thought the commercial babe doin' the voice-over actually said 100% of the proceeds go to education. Not just "the proceeds," "100% of the proceeds..." Isn't that false advertising?

Suppose that depends upon what the definition of "proceeds" is, right?

2 Exactly. They have defined "proceeds," in the law, to mean everything leftover after all the fees, salaries, costs, and profits put in politicians pockets.

3 What a terrific setup. It's brilliant. We give the government money, and they give us an impossibly fleeting hope of something big in return. Maybe. If we're lucky.
On that note, I'm starting a new lottery. It's the same procedure: you give me money, a dollar or two at a time. However, unlike the government, I'm going to tell you the truth. You don't have a chance in hell of winning anything. And, the money you give me will be spent on curruption. I'll admit it.

5 Unfortunately, many of the very same people that spend BIG on lottery tickets are hopeless when it comes to managing their money. I suspect that a good sideline for the paycheck loans places would be to sell lottery tickets.

The lottery is a tax on people who don't understand probabilities.
