Government Begets Government

Government today is really bad. It is not representative government as the founders intended it. Government was supposed to do VERY LITTLE. People shouldn't even really know about government on a day-to-day basis, much less be affected by their decisions.

But today's government is about power. Most of the people in government have politics as a career. They exist to spend money and to control people. That's completely wrong. And larger government just makes even more government. As an example of how insane government has become, read this story about the town of Wrightsville Beach.

In that example, the town board of aldermen created a new board. They then appointed themselves to the board. How can that make any sense at all to any sane person? Well, no one claims that the people in government are sane. To show how utterly insane this is (beyond the obvious), take a gander at a quote from one of the councilmen:

I want to separate the politics from the judicial.

So creating a board and appointing the politicians takes the politics out of their decisions.

Oh how I yearn for freedom.

1 It all started when we started paying people to be mayor, alderman, etc.
Cut off the paychecks, and you'll solve the problem.
Of course, cutting off the pay is a problem all by itself. That's the trouble with letting employees set their own salaries.

2 Indeed. Did you know in New Hampshire the legislators get $100 a YEAR? How often do you read about corruption there?

3 The money needs to come out of politics -- but NOT by taking away first amendment rights and political donations, by taking away the spending of the politicians.
