Prohibition Continues in NC
In case you were wondering about the status of prohibition, just check North Carolina. A North Carolina appeals court recently ruled that a person riding a scooter or a skateboard can be arrested and have their driver's license revoked if they have an improper blood alcohol content.
Never mind the fact that no driver's license is required to ride a skateboard, you can still be jailed for having a drink and getting on a skateboard. And don't worry about the fact that riding a skateboard drunk really isn't putting anyone else in any more danger than walking drunk. And forget about the idea that 0.08 BAC is a completely arbitrary number that has NOTHING to do with the actual risk of getting in an accident. Thanks to the morons at organizations like M.A.D.D. (Morons Against Drinking or Drinking), the 0.08 BAC has no meaning, other than to interfere with anyone drinking any alcohol at all. There is no logical reason to jail someone for riding on a skateboard with a 0.09 BAC. NONE. There is NO reason to take a driver's license from someone who has a BAC of 0.09 who rides a scooter. ZERO. This is government completely out of control. The only possible conclusion that can be drawn is that you should not leave your house if you have an alcoholic drink -- or you might end up in jail in NC.

The prohibitionist wouldn't give a direct answer, so the interviewer approached from a different angle: "I understand from other sources that you would back a national minimum drinking age of 25. Is there any truth to that?"
The prohibitionist shook her head and said, "No, none at all. We don't have the votes in Congress for anything like that."

I think it is all for the revenue. They make a killing on the fines and the classes and whatever other hoops one has to jump through if convicted of a DUI.

Drunk driving is wrong, dangerious and rightfully so illegal, the BAL .08 in NC and Illinois is insultingly low. Hell, I've blown a 1.7 and still been sober. I passed all sobriety tests other then the breathalizer. I think it is just for the revenue.
