Factually Challenged Journalists

In case you're wondering what point of view is being taught in places of "higher learning," things like this pass as factual information:

There is no question that the world is warming at an unprecedented rate, due largely to the burning of fossil fuels.

Actually, Kim Curtis, that idea is quite in question. There is little data and a large number of scientists that do question the idea that fossil fuels are responsible for global warming, and a large number that question that global warming is even occurring.

But, Ms. Curtis teaches political science at Duke University. Keep that in mind next time you hear from a candidate who attended Duke with a poly sci major -- they're being taught that ideas are facts. Who knows what other agenda-driven political lies are being passed off as facts?

3 It always amazes me (well, maybe not) that it is the PolySci folks who believe these kinds of things to be fact. (Heck, why is it even called "PolySci" it isn't science. Not by a long shot.)

4 Poly-loonies, if you ask me.

5 I don't remember being told that was a fact when I was getting my polisci degree. Then again maybe I was too busy studying war theory to learn about global warming.

6 And maybe you didn't learn from this current crop of "professors."

7 Unfortunately this is not just limited to PolySci. Journalists with similar ideas quote each other, politicians feel like if they say things enough people will believe them, marketing specialists think they can claim anything and it is true.

I have found profound truth in what one of my mentors said, "Perception is reality, the truth is only the truth."

Best wishes for a great New Year!

8 Here's one for you. According to a recent study, which I heard about on a local talk radio show here in N TX, pollution is actually COOLING the planet. Basically, all the little particles in the air absorb and/or reflect sunlight away from us, therefore COOLING the planet. Were there NO pollution, the earth would be about 6 to 10 degrees CENTIGRADE (don't know what that is farenheight). Also, according to this group of enviromental scientists, even if EVERY COUNTRY put into place EVERY PART of the Kyoto treaty, the result would be a cooling of .2 degrees centigrade over the NEXT HUNDRED YEARS (which, for those who don't know, would be COMPLETELY UNMEASUREABLE)

9 Smokey, Smokey...stop trying to ruin their agenda with facts. When facts don't fit, they are simply ignored in favor of the agenda. It's for the children, you know.

And good point, David -- the truth IS the truth, but SO many people are completely willing to ignore it.
