Easley Pays Cash for Votes
Gubn'r Easley, of North Carolina, announced that "he" will give all North Carolina teachers $750. His gift will cost taxpayers $450 million. And since the North Carolina legislature is the one who determines spending, it's not quite clear HOW he can give them that money.
He gives them this money in an attempt to buy their votes. Statements by Easley's office make it unclear whether he is trying to buy the votes of teachers for himself, with aspirations towards a higher political office (US Senator?); for gubernatorial candidate Roy Cooper (200

Hey, is he going to pay my wife another $750 a year too? She teaches at what we like to call a "high quality school." That means it concentrates on excellence, starts Latin in 3rd grade, and isn't run by the government.

Sorry, pseudo-unions and monopoly members only receive this money. If you are actual paid based on your production and output, you get no raise. This free money is ONLY to buy votes, NOT to reward productivity.
