Looks like a catalpa tree to me. If it is, I would grow to be a huge tree. I'd pull it out if I were you.

A TREE? Growing this fast? The stalk is clearly very soft -- no bark at all.

Okay, maybe it's a type of sunflower. I just looked at the ones growing wild in my front yard, and they have similar leaves. But those are some big damn leaves.

They are absolutely enormous, and in another week, they will be about 50% LARGER!

I think it's a pot plant - and you have some explaining to do
I just realized today that I never bookmarked your new site and thus haven't checked in in a month.

(Found you at Harveys)
I'd say, if it's not a sunflower, it's a Bean stalk...(you know, as in Jack.) As soon as you need a fish-eye lens, you know you're in trouble.

I dunno what they're called, but they try to take over my flower garden all summer, fortunately, the clover and crabgrass usually get the best of it.

I suppose it could be a sunflower-type plant, but as I recall most sunflower plants are simply tall and narrow -- this thing spreads out wide while it goes up.
Now I like the beanstalk idea -- it sure appears big enough to climb!
