Quote of the Day
"An unlimited power to tax involves, necessarily, a power to destroy; because there is a limit beyond which no institution and no property can bear taxation." --John Marshall
Yes, every government does need to tax the people to provide those basic services to be able to function as a society, but we have reached a point far beyond that. As Alexis de Tocqueville warned: "In other words, a democratic government is the only one in which those who vote for a tax can escape the obligation to pay it.""The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public's money. " The day that Congress discovered that is long past, and we are reaping the results of that discovery. We need a fundamental change in the system if we are to continue to enjoy the freedom that is our birthright. My own humble solution would be to enact some version of the Fair Tax system. That, coupled with a great reduction in so-called entitlement programs would go a far way to returning our Nation back to it's roots as a Nation of independent free people.
