Another addend to the blogroll

I just added another new blog on the roll. DRINK THIS. I had read her a number of times before, but I thought I had already added her. I have remedied that oversight.

Who wouldn't love a woman that puts This in her gutter?:

Dutch IDIOCY

I see THIS in a link over at the Rott, and needless to say, I am ashamed that the Dutch have fallen to that low a level. seems there must have been an exchange of policies between our NEA and their equivilent...

One good thing about this though...at least I found a great new blog to add to the roll!

UPDATE: As much as the story above enraged me, at least I was able to find proof that the Idiotarians aren't in total control of the Dutch helm of state yet. Here's a speech by Geert Wilders that demonstrates that Sanity still has at least a chance of regaining the upper hand.

Union musings

I think that THIS STORY demonstrates some of what is wrong with Union protected work today. I do think that workers shouldn't be capriciously used, but there comes a point where protection starts hurting business and ultimately the workers themselves. To pay a worker at full pay and benifits for work not done may make sense as a short term proposition; it's wise to keep skilled workers on tap during a small downturn situation, but to keep them on for years on end just doesn't make for a good company policy.

Worse, it engenders within the Union mindset that they are inviolate, and that mindset only leads to greater conflict. Don't think that it does so? From the article:

"That 10,000 number is not trivial, it's a pretty good percentage of their union work force," said Dan Luria, research director for the Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center and long-time auto-labor researcher.

"It's one of those differences between the Big Three and the foreign automakers. The UAW put it into place so the companies would think of labor as a fixed cost and keep workers busy."

Now I find two things wrong in the thinking embodied by the Union in that statement.

1) Labor costs are never "fixed" in the long term. There is always new innovation that can and should lower production costs, and labor costs are tied in with that; to artificially set those costs in stone eventually leads to a state of the company as a whole being uncompetative and going out of business alltogether.

2) Companies WANT to keep workers busy, to suggest otherwise is just idiocy, a busy worker is (hopefully) a productive worker, adding to the bottom line. To have to pay for a large idle workforce is the last thing a company wants to do.

The idea of companies as a social provider for the worker is what is the basic flaw of the Union mindset. The company is in the business of profit, plain and simple. The workers should have the same mindset in selling their product (their labor) to the company. The Union should be the negotiater between the two in what the company is willing to provide for the service and what the worker is willing to do for the profit. That is what unions were set up to do, as prior to their inception, the Company had all the power in the negotiation and set out unfair conditions to the worker in the interest of higher profit. Unions evened out the power to provide a better equity of power to BOTH sides of the equation.

But the Union mindset has changed to not "what is best for EVERYONE" overall to "just how much can we squeeze out of the company" without regard for the economic facts of life. In the end such a mindset kills the cash cow(company).

The Union officials aren't hurt by this (at least short term), they have influence in a broad range of companies, they just try to get more out of the remaining sources. But the workers who overextended the demands in the first instance are left out in the cold.

Unions have made (Company) profit a dirty word, as if that was money that deservedly only goes to the union worker, without considering that the worker isn't the only part of the equation. In some respects, the Union has taken the place of the Company in the "bad old days".

What are your thoughts?

Democrats Hell Week

Noemie Emery has a great op-ed piece in The Weekly Standard that shows just what is going wrong with the Democratic party.

Here's a taste:

EVERYTHING THAT HAS BEEN WRONG with the Democrats in the past several years was on vivid display during Hell Week: the teeth-grinding shrillness; the race card, misplayed with such gusto; the self-interest so blatant it defeats its own purpose; the crippling dearth of ideas. With a few brave exceptions (a faction of one named Joe Lieberman), the Democrats split into two major camps: the wingnuts--Dean, Boxer, and Kennedy--who know what they think, which alas sets them at odds with the rest of the country; and the caucus of cowards--Bayh, Edwards, and Kerry--who believe in nothing so much as their own career prospects, and change their minds on the gravest of war and peace issues on the basis of what serves their ends.

She sums it all up nicely in this paragraph (emphasis mine):

And there you have the real vision gap between the two parties: Republicans want to win wars and spread freedom; Democrats want to save their rear ends. Bush thinks freedom is better than terror and tyranny; Democrats think they themselves are better than Bush. In 2004, Bush made it clear he was willing to lose on the basis of his convictions--and won in spite or more likely because of this. Democrats had no convictions beyond the end goal of winning, and therefore quite properly lost. No party deserved to lose more than the Democrats did in these past two elections, and unless they make changes, they stand to lose many more.

I hope that the Democrats don't read her, because she has definately given them the WHY of why they lost, and it could give them the knowledge to correct it.....then again they probably wouldn't believe it anyway.

Dutch Immigration

Hmmm. Trust the Dutch to come up with an innovative way (for the EU) to screen new would-be immigrants.

After all, if the goal of the immigrant is to join Dutch society, shouldn't they proove that they have at least a good start on that intent?

The U.S. has had a similar test for years...I know, as I had to take it to qualify for Naturalization. If your intent is to become a citizen of a different country for the chance of making a better life for yourself than from whence you came, I don't see that this is any great hurdle to overcome, in fact it better prepares you for your new life to come.

Of course, the usual suspects will cry foul, after all, what right does a sovereign nation have to protect itself from those who just wish to enter to foment trouble?

Watch for the groups that protest the loudest and you will have a handy index of the enemy.

British Hospitality

An American tourist in London decides to skip his
tour group and explore the city on his own. He wanders around,
seeing the sights, and occasionally stopping at a quaint
pub to soak up the local culture, chat with the lads, and have a
pint of Guinness.

After a while, he finds himself in a very high-class
area...big, stately residences... no pubs, no shops, no
restaurants, and worst of all.... no public toilets. He really,
really has to go, after all those pints of Guinness. He finds a narrow side
street, with high walls surrounding the adjacent buildings and
decides to use the wall to solve his problem.

As he is unzipping, he is tapped on the shoulder by
a London Bobbie, who says, "I say, sir, you simply
cannot do that here, you know."

"I'm very sorry, officer," replies the American,
"but I really, really have to go, and I just can't find
a public toilet."

"Ah, yes," said the Bobbie, "Just follow me".

He leads him to a back "delivery alley", then along
a wall to a gate, which he opens.

"In there," points the Bobbie. "Whiz away, sir,
anywhere you want."

The fellow enters and finds himself in the most
beautiful garden he has ever seen. Manicured grass lawns, statuary,
fountains, sculptured hedges, and huge beds of gorgeous
flowers, all in perfect bloom. Since he has the cop's blessing, he
unburdens himself and is greatly relieved.

As he goes back through the gate, he says to the
Bobbie"That was really decent of you. Is that what you
call "British Hospitality?"

"No, sir," replied the Bobbie, "that is what we call
the French Embassy."

Words Women Use

******************************
FINE
This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.

FIVE MINUTES
If she is getting dressed, this is half an hour. Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given 5 more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.

NOTHING
This is the calm before the storm. This means "something," and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with 'Nothing' usually end in "Fine"

GO AHEAD
This is a dare, not permission. Don't do it.

LOUD SIGH
This is not actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A "Loud Sigh" means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you over "Nothing"

THAT'S OKAY
This is one of the most dangerous statements that a woman can make to a man. "That's Okay" means that she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.

THANKS
A woman is thanking you. Do not question it or faint. Just say you're welcome.

Send this to the men you know to warn them about future arguments they can avoid if they remember the terminology!

And send it to your women friends to give them a good laugh

SLIME that masquerades as human

It was bad enough that the Islamoterrorist slime would use a child to commit one of their heinious bombing operations, it was worse when I learned that the bomb dupe was a victom of Downs Syndrome, but now to learn that the child was KIDNAPPED for the purpose....words fail to express the outrage I feel towards these pieces of slime in human form.

I truly believe that the next time I am in the presence of a left wing apologist for these vermin that I will end up in jail for assault if they DARE to spout any apologist rhetoric within my earshot.

Found this via Right Wing Rocker. And added him to the bloggroll too.

A Kindness Shown

Yes, the Iraqi's know what the sacrifice that over 1,500 US servicemen have made means to them. Including the Iraqis that are living here.

And unlike our whining nabobs of negativity
members of the Left Aisle, they know how to express their gratitude.

I wish to express my condolences to the family of LCpl. Lance Klein on their great loss, and I want to thank the Ishmail family for their great kindness to a family in the midst of their grief, you all make America the great country that it is.

The French Connection

Hmmm Is THIS really a surprise?

Other than the fact that they were caught fighting instead of surrendering?

Although, as the details are still sketchy..... it just may be that the Islamofacists were surprised when their brave French recruits exhibited the French prediliction in battle situations:

Ahmed:" Allah Akbar! Though we die, we die in Jihad. Allah be praised!

Rene bin dum: "DIE?!? Sacre Bleu!, they never said DIE in the Mosque de Paree!"

Ahmed: "be brave, you are a soldier of Allah, they kill your body, but your spirit lives on in Paradise, remembered forever in glory by the rest of us."

Rene:"Ahmed, could I borrow your handkerchief?"

Ahmed: "Shoot! Shoot at the Infidel Marines for the greater glory of Allah!"

Rene: "um...those guys look awful angry...maybe a truce for a Cognac and Brie peace session?"

Ahmed: *charging up Marine position*"Alllaaahhhhhh.......silence following a the sharp crack of a sniper rifle...

Rene: "Ahmed? ...er Ahmed?".... *throws down weapon, takes up white cloth*
"Parle vou Francee American?" I do not know thees men, I was... taking a tour." "and they forced me into theese clothes and threw a rifle in my hands...and grenades....and a rocket launc...Your not buying eet are you?

Marine: "Hell No Frenchy"

Rene: "Geneva Convention!"" French Consulate!" "Police Brutality!"(Rene had spent a summer in California) "I surrender!."

Marine:*disappointed look on his face* *Muttering that General Mattis was right, some people are just fun to shoot!* "ok Frenchy, up against the wall and spread them".....

Bush "Democracy Domino Theory" in action

It's starting, just as President Bush had said it would; that democracy in Iraq would start the breeze of freedom across the region.

Now the breeze is starting to strengthen in Saudi Arabia. It is just a gentle waft at present to be sure, but considering the rigidity of the Saudi Regime, any progress forward could be considered a miracle.

And this is coming internally, so there are no doubts about "imperialism" or whatever term the Moonbats are using in their anti-American meme's this week

2nd Amendment in Action

This is an example that leads me to believe, despite the moaning from the left about "puppet governments", etc; that the elections in Iraq really did have the meaning of autonomy to the people of Iraq. Even though they don't have a 2nd Amendment, or even a Constitution; this is an example of what the 2nd Amenmdment was put into our Constitution for.

Here's the story in a nutshell:

Citizens of Al Mudhiryiah (a small town in the "death triangle") were subjected to an attack by several militants today who were trying to punish the residents of this small town for voting in the election last Sunday.
The citizens responded and managed to stop the attack, kill 5 of the attackers, wounded 8 and burned their cars.
3 citizens were injured during the fire exchange. The Shiekh of the tribe to whom the 3 wounded citizens belong demanded more efforts from the government to stop who he described as "Salafis".

The Iraqi citizens have a new feeling of nationalism, and they aren't going to let a group of Islamofacist thugs take it away from them. Note that this incident occurred right in the center of the region where the insurgents Islamothugs hold the greatest sway. The people are taking their country back.

If they can do it and establish a representative form of government, those 1500+ American soldiers will not have died in vain.

How old is Grandma?

Stay with this -- the answer is at the end -- it will blow you away.

One evening a grandson was talking to his grandmother about current events. The grandson asked his grandmother what she thought about the shootings at schools, the computer age, and just things in general.

The Grandma replied, "Well, let me think a minute, I was born, before television, penicillin, polio shots, frozen foods, Xerox, contact lenses, Frisbees and the pill. There was no radar, credit cards, laser beams or ball-point pens.Man had not invented pantyhose, air conditioners, dishwashers, clothes dryers, and the clothes were hung out to dry in the fresh air and man hadn't yet walked on the moon.

Your Grandfather and I got married first-and then lived together. Every family had a father and a mother. Until I was 25, I called every man older than I, 'Sir'- and after I turned 25, I still called policemen and every man with a title, "Sir.' We were before gay-rights, computer- dating, dual careers, daycare centers, and group therapy.

Our lives were governed by the Ten Commandments, good judgment, and common sense. We were taught to know the difference between right and wrong and to stand up and take responsibility for our actions.

Serving your country was a privilege; living in this country was a bigger privilege. We thought fast food was what people ate during Lent. Having a meaningful relationship meant getting along with your cousins. Draft dodgers were people who closed their front doors when the evening breeze started. Time-sharing meant time the family spent together in the evenings and weekends-not purchasing condominiums.

We never heard of FM radios, tape decks, CDs, electric typewriters, yogurt, or guys wearing earrings. We listened to the Big Bands, Jack Benny, and the President's speeches on our radios. And I don't ever remember any kid blowing his brains out listening to Tommy Dorsey. If you saw anything with 'Made in Japan ' on it, it was junk. The term 'making out' referred to how you did on your school exam.Pizza Hut, McDonald's, and instant coffee were unheard of.

We had 5 & 10-cent stores where you could actually buy things for 5 and 10 cents. Ice-cream cones, phone calls, rides on a streetcar, and a Pepsi were all a nickel. And if you didn't want to splurge, you could spend your nickel on enough stamps to mail 1 letter and 2 postcards.

You could buy a new Chevy Coupe for $600 but who could afford one? Too bad, because gas was 11 cents a gallon. In my day, "grass" was mowed, "coke" was a cold drink, "pot" was something your mother cooked in, and "rock music" was your grandmother's lullaby."Aids" were helpers in the Principal's office," chip" meant a piece of wood, "hardware" was found in a hardware store, and "software" wasn't even a word.

And we were the last generation to actually believe that a lady needed a husband to have a baby. No wonder people call us "old and confused" and say there is a generation gap.....and how old do you think I am ???.....

I bet you have this old lady in mind...you are in for a shock! Read on to see -- pretty scary if you think about it and pretty sad at the same time.

This Woman would be only 58 years old!

ONE Question Interview

An office manager was given the task of hiring an individual to fill a job opening.

After sorting through a stack of resumes he found four people who were equally qualified.

He decided to call the four in and ask them only one question.

Their answer would determine which of them would get the job.

The day came and as the four sat around the conference room table the interviewer asked, "What is the fastest thing you know of?"

Acknowledging the first man on his right, the man replied, "A THOUGHT. It just pops into your head. There's no warning that it's on the way; it's just there. A thought is the fastest thing I know of."

"That's very good!" replied the interviewer. "And now you sir?" he asked the second man.

"Hmm....let me see. A blink! It comes and goes and you don't know that it ever happened. A BLINK is the fastest thing I know of."

"Excellent!" said the interviewer. "The blink of an eye... that's a very popular clich for speed."

He then turned to the third man who was contemplating his reply.

"Well, out at my dad's ranch, you step out of the house and on the wall there's a light switch. When you flip that switch, way out across the pasture the light in the barn comes on in less than an instant. Yep, TURNING ON A LIGHT is the fastest thing I can think of."

The interviewer was very impressed with the third answer and thought he had found his man. "It's hard to beat the speed of light" he said.

Turning to the fourth and final man, the interviewer posed the same question The last man replied, "After hearing the three previous answers, It's obvious to me that the fastest thing known is DIARRHEA."

"WHAT!?" said the interviewer, stunned by the response.

"Oh I can explain." said the fourth man. "You see the other day I wasn't feeling so good and I ran for the bathroom. But, before I could THINK, BLINK, or TURN ON THE LIGHT, I had already shit my pants!"

HE GOT THE JOB

Saudi Venom

Daniel Pipes has a post up with links to a study of Saudi Arabian funded literature disseminated to American Mosques and Muslim organizations.

The sturdy was done by a think tank called Freedom House, and what they found was truly disturbing.

Here is a taste of what this literature advises American Muslims:

Reject Christianity as a valid faith: Any Muslim who believes "that churches are houses of God and that God is worshiped therein is an infidel."

Insist that Islamic law be applied: On a range of issues, from women (who must be veiled) to apostates from Islam ("should be killed"), the Saudi publications insist on full enforcement of Shariah in America.

See non-Muslims as the enemy: "Be dissociated from the infidels, hate them for their religion, leave them, never rely on them for support, do not admire them, and always oppose them in every way according to Islamic law."

See America as hostile territory: "It is forbidden for a Muslim to become a citizen of a country governed by infidels because this is a means of acquiescing to their infidelity and accepting all their erroneous ways."

Prepare for war against America: "To be true Muslims, we must prepare and be ready for jihad in Allah's way. It is the duty of the citizen and the government."

Can ANYONE read the above and still believe that Saudi Arabia, with it's hateful creed of Wahabism, is a friend to the US? Or that Islam in it's most prosperous forms is in any way a "Religion of Peace"?

Remember, this is being taught to Muslims in THIS country, we are supporting a nest of vipers on our own shores and it would behoove us to destroy the nest before we are fatally bitten.

I am NOT talking about treating Muslims as if they were blacks under the old Jim Crow era, I am talking about investigating what is truly being fomented in the Mosques and alerting the American public to it.
In those cases where concrete actions have been taken by members of the RoP in undermining the stability of the US; prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law.

hat tip to Kim du Toit

A death to be mourned

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Mr. Common Sense.
Mr. Sense had been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was
since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape.

He will be remembered as having cultivated such value lessons as knowing
when to come in out of the rain, why the early bird gets the worm and that
life isn't always fair. Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial
policies (don't spend more than you earn) and reliable parenting strategies
(adults, not kids, are in charge).

His health began to rapidly deteriorate when well intentioned but
overbearing regulations were set in place - reports of a six-year-old boy
charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended
from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for
reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.

Mr. Sense declined even further when schools were required to get parental
consent to administer aspirin to a student; but, could not inform the
parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.

Finally, Common Sense lost the will to live as the Ten Commandments became
contraband; churches became businesses; and criminals received better
treatment than their victims.

Common Sense finally gave up the ghost after a woman failed to realize that
a steaming cup of coffee was hot, she spilled a bit in her lap, and was
awarded a huge settlement.

Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents, Truth and Trust, his
wife, Discretion; his daughter, Responsibility; and his son, Reason. He is
survived by two stepbrothers; My Rights and Ima Whiner. Not many attended
his funeral because so few realized he was gone. If you still remember him,
pass this on; if not, join the majority and do nothing.

Thank you for the funeral notice Bob

Negotiations? or stalling for time?

Many of the left have been continually repeating the meme that President Bush should have spent more time in trying to get the UN to uphold their own sanctions against Saddam Hussein...then they point to some member countries of the EU negotiating with Iran on the their nuclear program as the "way it SHOULD have been done".

Yeah Right. Europe has offered Iran trade and technological, and financial aid "carrots" to try to forstall using a military "stick" in the event that Iran goes ahead with it's troubleing programs. The result? lets just see what the Iranian attitude is:

Iran will never scrap its nuclear program, and talks with Europeans are intended to protect the country's nuclear achievements, not negotiate an end to them."(emphasis mine)
Remarks by Ali Agha Mohammadi, spokesman of Iran's powerful Supreme National Security Council.

The Iranians seem to be "troubled by the slowness of the pace of the talks", yet they seem to be unwilling to concede anything to move those talks forward. In essence, they are using nuclear blackmail without even having any nuclear weapons. Just imagine the problem that would arise should they ever attain the status of a nuclear power!

The important thing to realize here is that the Iranians themselves are SAYING that they will never give up their nuclear programs, and yet still expect other countries to negotiate the ending of those programs in good faith. Even the Moonbat left should have the sense to realize that such a position is just plain ludricrous.

The Iranis claim that their nuclear programs are only for energy, not for weapons......in one of the most oil rich nations in the world? Only a recent product of our public schools would fall for such an obvious disconnect between rhetoric and reality.

Yeah, This is the WORST economy EVER!

THIS story HAD to be painful for Reuters to diseminate.

Seems all the doom and gloomers (ie Democrats) can be shown to be wrong yet again. If the current estimates hold true, we will have reached the same level of employment that we had when President Bush first took office.
I'm sure some of my Leftist readers will come back with "whats so great about being where we were 4 years ago? The fact is that if the figures hold true, January will be the 17th straight month of growth.

The fact is that this happened despite a recession; a terrorist act that cost us at least $150B in losses to the economy; and a costly war. AND that the Left side were saying that, because of the tax cuts of the first administration, government would founder in an ever increasing sea of red due to a loss of revenue to the federal government. Yet, as always with tax cuts, the real revenue coming in to the federal coffers rose last year. Now it's up to the President to start to cut federal expenditures to match the tax cuts.

As I said in an earlier post, the deficit has already started to drop. Slowly to be sure, but dropping. IF President Bush can make a good start on cutting back Federal expenditures, and his succesor continues that mindset, we could see surplusses again by the middle of the successors first term. To reverse a multi trillion dollar deficit to a surplus in the space of 6 years would be the cherry on President Bush's legacy.

Whether or not this can or will be done is still dependant on many factors outside any one person's controll, but I still have hope.
