Someone's in the Kitchen with Dinaaahhhhhh!!!
These are yummy cakey cookies, perfect for summertime treats and special enough for those times when you want to impress.
Iced Orange Cookies Cookies:2 cups sugar
1 cup shortening
2 eggs
1 cup sour cream
1 tsp vanilla extract
5 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
¾ cup frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed
2 Tbsp grated orange zest (see note below) Icing:
½ tsp grated orange zest
2 Tbsp frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed
1 tsp vanilla extract
4 Tbsp butter, melted
1½ cups confectioners sugar
Directions: Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- Cream together the sugar and shortening, add eggs and stir. Add sour cream and 1 tsp vanilla, stir and set aside.
- Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Add little by little to the creamed mixture and stir well.
- Add ¾ cup orange juice concentrate and the the 2 Tbsp orange zest. Mix well.
- Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets.
- Bake for about 10 minutes.
- Remove to a rack, and while they cool, make the icing.
