Just Say Nah
The Windows XP install routine has been stuck for, oh, fifteen minutes now. Somehow I don't think this is working.
P.S. Look, you idiots, I don't have a floppy drive. Device drivers are supplied on CD-ROM these days. The only reason anyone uses floppy drives any more is to load your blasted device drivers. Would you at least try to join the 90s, even if you can't quite make it into the new century?

Heh, again I say "USB memory key."
Unless it's one of those drivers that has to be loaded during the initial install, in which case...you have my sympathies.

Yes, it is. Or else, WinXP just plain doesn't like the way I've built my machine. Since its primary role is to be a Linux file server, that just means I don't install WinXP on it.

Why would you contaminate your server by installing winxp on it first?

I wanted to compare the performance of WinXP on an Athlon vs. a P4. And play with IP over firewire. And have the option of dual-booting in the rare instance I want a second Doze box.
But I'm not going to spend any more time messing about with it. It's done. Configured. Production.
Um, soon as I get the nVidia drivers installed.

Oh, and this is my own personal file server, not a work thing, so I'm playing around a bit.
